YUCAIPA, Calif. — A tragic incident in Yucaipa has left the community in shock after 55-year-old Larry Adams was found dead inside his home on Sixth Street on the morning of October 31, 2025. Authorities say Adams’ brother, 50-year-old Matthew Ludwig, has been arrested in connection with his death.

The Yucaipa Police Department reported that deputies responded to a medical aid call at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the 12000 block of Sixth Street. Matthew Ludwig had called and reported that his brother was not breathing. When officers arrived, they found Larry Adams deceased in the living room.

Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, deputies detained Ludwig without incident. Officials later discovered that he had an outstanding felony warrant. Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail took over the investigation. Multiple inconsistencies were found in Ludwig’s statements, which ultimately led to his arrest on a charge of murder under Penal Code 187, in addition to addressing his existing warrant. Ludwig is currently being held at the Central Detention Center.
