LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a heartbreaking ATV crash that claimed the lives of two juveniles Saturday in the Fayette Township area.
According to preliminary reports, the two young victims were operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) when they lost control for reasons still under investigation. The ATV reportedly struck a bench and a parked car, causing significant damage and critical injuries to both riders.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and provided life-saving measures before both juveniles were transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, officials confirmed that both victims succumbed to their injuries a short time later.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted local deputies in processing the crash site and reconstructing the sequence of events. Investigators continue to examine factors that may have contributed to the incident, including speed, terrain, and vehicle condition.
The tragic loss has left the Lawrence County community in deep mourning. Residents and local officials have expressed their condolences and support for the grieving families as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “We ask the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
As the investigation continues, authorities are reminding ATV riders and parents to prioritize safety by ensuring all operators wear helmets, avoid public roadways, and follow proper riding guidelines — measures that can help prevent future tragedies.
