BATES COUNTY, Mo. — The Bates County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Wesley and Zelda Coleman, longtime residents of Butler, Missouri, who tragically died in a house fire on Wednesday, October 29th.
Shortly before 11:00 a.m., firefighters and first responders were dispatched to a home near 6748 NW County Road 4002 after receiving reports of a fire and concerns that occupants might still be inside. Despite the rapid response and efforts of emergency personnel, the couple succumbed to injuries related to the blaze.
Wesley and Zelda were cherished members of their community, remembered for their warmth, kindness, and deep ties to family and neighbors. Their sudden passing has left a profound void for friends, family, and the wider Bates County community.
Authorities have stated that the cause of the fire and the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain under investigation. Fire investigators are working diligently to determine how the fire began and whether any contributing factors played a role.
