LIVINGSTON, Texas — The Livingston community is reeling after a devastating incident Saturday night in which 27-year-old Adelia Garcia Torres and her 8-year-old son were found dead along U.S. Highway 59 South. According to the Livingston Police Department, both victims suffered a single apparent gunshot wound in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide.

The tragic events unfolded after the Lufkin Police Department alerted Livingston officials that a woman had expressed suicidal ideations and was in the company of a minor. Lufkin PD provided descriptions of two potential vehicles, prompting officers in Livingston to begin an urgent search. At approximately 10:47 p.m., police located one of the vehicles parked on the shoulder of the 800 block of U.S. Highway 59 South.
