The community of Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, is mourning an unimaginable tragedy that has left hearts shattered across the region. Our deepest condolences go out to the McAlester/Pittsburg County Emergency Management and to the families of the brave emergency responders who lost their lives while serving their community.

According to officials, two responders tragically passed away on Saturday during the H-Town Throwdown races in Hartshorne, and a third individual died on Friday evening while helping with event preparations. These dedicated men and women were not just responders — they were heroes who gave their time, energy, and love to protect and support others.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Each of them embodied the true spirit of community — stepping forward when others stepped back, working tirelessly to ensure the safety of those around them. Their passing leaves a deep void, not only in their families’ hearts but also within the entire Pittsburg County community.

As friends, colleagues, and neighbors come together to grieve, there is a shared understanding of just how much these heroes gave. The outpouring of love, support, and prayers reflects the deep gratitude and respect for their ultimate sacrifice.

Let us continue to keep their families, friends, and fellow responders in our thoughts and prayers during this painful time. Their legacy of bravery, compassion, and service will continue to shine through all those they inspired.

🕊️ We honor their memory. We grieve their loss. And we stand strong with Pittsburg County.
