Rochester, NY — Authorities have identified the woman tragically killed by a stray bullet during an early morning shooting in Rochester’s northeast side. The victim has been named as 31-year-old Kitana Kendrick, a beloved resident of the city whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence.

According to Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department (RPD), the shooting occurred around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, near Pulaski Park on Gothic Street. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they found Kendrick lying in the street with a serious injury to her upper body.

Emergency personnel rushed her to Strong Memorial Hospital, but despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Kendrick was struck unintentionally by a stray bullet during a dispute among a group of individuals nearby. Captain Umbrino explained that while Kendrick was present at the scene, she was not the intended target. None of the people involved in the argument lived on Gothic Street, suggesting that the confrontation began elsewhere before moving into the neighborhood.

The RPD Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is actively working to identify those responsible. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage, gathering physical evidence, and interviewing witnesses. So far, no arrests have been made and no charges filed.
