TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Heartbreak struck the Tallahassee community on Wednesday, October 29, when a young man lost his life in a tragic shooting on Aenon Church Trail.
According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. to the 5700 block of Aenon Church Trail after reports of gunfire in the area. When they arrived, they discovered a vehicle stopped in the roadway with an adult male victim, later identified as 26-year-old Lakeboy Vito, inside. Vito had sustained a gunshot wound, and deputies immediately performed life-saving measures, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:48 p.m.
Authorities quickly launched an investigation, identifying 34-year-old Trevon Cloud as the suspect. Cloud fled the scene before deputies arrived but was later tracked down and arrested in Gadsden County with the assistance of local law enforcement. He has been charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Leon County Detention Facility.
Sheriff Walt McNeil praised the collaborative effort between agencies, stating:
“We’re grateful for the swift teamwork with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, whose help was instrumental in locating and safely taking the suspect into custody. This tragedy serves as a reminder of the strong partnerships among law enforcement agencies working to keep our communities safe.”
News of Lakeboy Vito’s death has left his family, friends, and community heartbroken. Loved ones describe him as a kind, humble, and loyal young man who always had a smile on his face. He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him, and his loss has created a void that can never be filled.
As the investigation continues, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with additional information to come forward.
The community now mourns the loss of Lakeboy Vito — a life gone far too soon, but one that will forever be remembered for the light and love he brought to those around him.
