It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of eight-year-old Zeke Hondow, who tragically lost his life on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in a collision between two electrically powered bicycles near Mountain Creek, close to the Kawana Way and Sunshine Motorway interchanges. Zeke, affectionately known as “little Zeke,” was on his way home from school when this devastating accident occurred.
Emergency responders acted quickly, transporting Zeke to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Authorities confirmed that both Zeke and the fifteen-year-old involved were wearing protective headgear at the time of the collision. The older youth is voluntarily cooperating with police as the investigation continues.
Zeke’s passing has left his family, friends, and the community in profound grief. He was a bright, joyful, and kind-hearted child whose laughter, curiosity, and warmth touched everyone who knew him. His sudden loss is a shock to all, and his absence leaves an unfillable void.
