SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sioux Falls community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tawacin KeebleHare, a young woman whose life was tragically cut short in a shooting early Tuesday morning at an apartment complex near 43rd Street and Larch Avenue.
According to Sioux Falls Police, multiple 911 calls came in around 5:00 a.m. reporting gunfire at the complex. When officers arrived, they found two victims who had been shot. Tawacin KeebleHare was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another young adult was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Around 8:30 a.m., police detained a suspect who had barricaded themselves inside one of the apartments. Authorities confirmed that the suspect and victims knew each other, and they believe this was an isolated incident. Limited information has been released as detectives continue their investigation and families are notified.
The tragedy marks the 11th homicide in Sioux Falls this year, and the third in that area — a somber reminder of how deeply violence can affect a community.
Those who knew Tawacin describe her as compassionate, vibrant, and full of life. She was a source of love and strength for her family and friends — someone whose kindness and bright spirit made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her loved ones
