HASTINGS, Neb. — The Hastings community is mourning the tragic loss of 31-year-old Sabian Salais, who died Monday morning following a fatal two-vehicle crash near Doniphan in Hall County.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 281 and West Binfield Road. Salais was driving a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Highway 281 when he struck the rear of a 2020 Peterbilt semi-trailer. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities reported that the driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation as deputies work to determine the full circumstances leading to this tragic accident. Early reports indicate the collision was sudden and severe, claiming the life of a young man with strong connections to the Hastings community.
