The city of Chicago is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Rodrigo Franco, who tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence on Sunday evening, November 2, 2025.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Rodrigo was inside a Burger King restaurant located at 4060 S. Pulaski Road in the Archer Heights neighborhood around 7:05 p.m. when someone in a Jeep SUV opened fire toward the building. Rodrigo was struck in the head and rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he sadly passed away from his injuries.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Rodrigo’s identity on Monday morning. Police say the shooter fled the scene, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
Rodrigo’s tragic passing has left his family, friends, and community in deep sorrow. At just 17 years old, he was full of life, dreams, and potential. Those who knew him describe Rodrigo as a kind, respectful, and hardworking young man with a warm smile and a heart that cared deeply for others.
