HIBBING, Minn. — The Hibbing community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 24-year-old Parker Charles Johnson, who tragically lost his life in a shooting outside an apartment complex just hours after celebrating his birthday.
In the early morning hours of November 2, 2025, police responded to reports of gunfire near the Meadowview Apartments on 9th Avenue West. When officers arrived, they found Parker suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. Despite lifesaving efforts from police and emergency medics, Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Born on November 1, 2001, Parker had just turned 24 — a milestone that should have been filled with love, laughter, and joy. Instead, his family and friends now face an unimaginable loss. Those who knew Parker describe him as a kind, humble, and compassionate young man who was always willing to help others. He had a bright spirit and a heart full of generosity that touched everyone around him.
Police later confirmed that a man was taken into custody in connection with the incident. The suspect, who remains unnamed, was arrested without incident and is cooperating with investigators as charges are reviewed by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) continues to assist local authorities in their investigation.
The devastating news of Parker’s passing has sent shockwaves through the Hibbing community. Friends and loved ones have taken to social media to share heartfelt tributes, remembering his smile, his loyalty, and the joy he brought to every room he entered.
“Parker was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family,” one friend wrote. “It’s hard to believe he’s gone, especially on the day he should have been celebrating life.”
Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated event and say there is no ongoing danger to the public.
As family and friends grieve, they hold tight to the precious memories Parker left behind — his laughter, his love, and his unwavering kindness. Though his time on Earth was far too short, his impact will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Parker Charles Johnson.
Forever 24, forever loved.
