According to Dawson County Sheriff Mark Montgomery, deputies were dispatched at approximately 12:43 a.m. to a reported accident about four miles east of Gothenburg on Highway 30, near mile marker 218. Upon arrival, authorities located a 2008 silver Mazda that had veered into the north ditch.
Inside the vehicle, deputies found Lynsy Herndon unresponsive. Despite efforts at the scene, she was pronounced deceased. Investigators determined that seat restraints were not in use, and alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the fatal crash.
