Sanford, FL (November 1, 2025) — It is with heavy hearts that the Sanford community mourns the tragic loss of La-Don Ja’Quan Williams, a 22-year-old whose life was taken far too soon in a senseless act of violence.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sanford Police responded to reports of gunfire near 14th Street and Mangoustine Avenue. When officers arrived, they found La-Don suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

A second individual later arrived at a local hospital with a minor injury related to the same incident. Police have since launched a full homicide investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

La-Don was only 22 — a young man with dreams, laughter, and love that touched everyone who knew him. His family and friends remember him as kind-hearted, full of life, and deeply loved. His passing has left a void that words can’t fill, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.

The Sanford Police Department urges anyone with information about the shooting to contact them or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimeline.org. All calls remain anonymous, and a cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to justice.

As the community grieves this heartbreaking loss, loved ones ask for continued prayers, strength, and unity in memory of La-Don Ja’Quan Williams — gone too soon, but never forgotten.
