The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of senior student and standout athlete Gabriel Siqueira, one of two teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a vehicle crash overnight along Route 140 in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

According to authorities, the crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on the southbound side of Route 140, near mile marker 2.1. When Massachusetts State Police and emergency responders arrived, they discovered a severely damaged Honda Civic that had veered off the roadway and into a wooded area. Three teenagers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Gabriel, 17, from West Yarmouth, and a 15-year-old girl were ejected from the vehicle. Sadly, both succumbed to their injuries. A third passenger, an 18-year-old male from Dartmouth believed to have been driving, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Officials have not yet determined what caused the crash or whether any charges will be filed.

In the wake of this devastating tragedy, the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District has come together to remember and honor Gabriel’s life. Superintendent Marc J. Smith expressed the community’s sorrow, describing Gabriel as “a source of energy, passion, and inspiration.” He added, “His leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication both in the classroom and on the soccer field made a lasting impact on everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by his teammates, coaches, friends, and the entire D-Y community.”

High School Principal Kendra Bennett also shared a heartfelt message, calling Gabriel “a cherished member of our community and an inspiring varsity soccer player whose kindness and sportsmanship touched the lives of many.” She emphasized that counseling and support services will be available throughout the week to help students and staff process the loss. “Our community has always been one of compassion and unity,” Bennett said. “We will continue to come together to extend strength and support to everyone who is grieving. Once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin.”

Gabriel’s passing has deeply affected the Cape Cod region and the greater school community. Friends, teachers, and teammates have taken to social media to share their memories of a young man remembered for his bright smile, uplifting spirit, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Many described him as not only an exceptional athlete but also a loyal friend and role model who encouraged others to do their best.

As the investigation continues, the community remains united in grief, holding close the memory of a young life full of promise and light. The loss of Gabriel Siqueira and his fellow classmate serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life—and the strength that can be found in coming together during times of sorrow.

May Gabriel’s legacy of kindness, determination, and passion continue to inspire all who knew him.

Forever remembered. Forever a Dolphin.
