CARLISLE, Ark. — The community of Carlisle is mourning the loss of 37-year-old Eric Roland, who was tragically killed in a shooting on Sunday morning, November 2. The Arkansas State Police (ASP) are leading the investigation at the request of the Carlisle Police Department (CPD).
According to authorities, CPD officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Roland suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, leaving family, friends, and neighbors devastated by the sudden loss.
Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect as 40-year-old Cyle Ramone Cooney, who fled in a white Dodge Ram. The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Cooney around 8:30 a.m. on the same day. He has been booked into the Lonoke County Detention Center and faces charges including First-Degree Murder, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.
Cooney is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 12, 2026.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Roland’s death, including gathering witness statements and reviewing evidence from the scene. ASP and CPD officials emphasized that the community’s cooperation is critical and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
