BOARDMAN, Ohio — It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of 39-year-old Alex Lowry of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, who tragically lost his life in a crash on Interstate 680 South in Boardman, Ohio, on Friday evening.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. near milepost 12, close to the Route 224 overpass. Alex was behind the wheel of his 2014 Dodge Charger when his vehicle collided with a Nissan Rogue traveling in the same lane. The impact caused Alex’s car to veer off the road, strike a guardrail, and crash into three concrete bridge supports before overturning.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but despite their efforts, Alex was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Nissan sustained only minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision.
Beyond the tragic circumstances, Alex will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and genuine heart. He was someone who brought light wherever he went — a loyal friend, a caring family member, and a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Those who knew Alex say he had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. His smile could brighten even the darkest days, and his presence made every moment better.
His untimely passing leaves an ache in the hearts of those who knew him best, but his memory will continue to shine brightly through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
May Alex Lowry’s soul rest peacefully, and may his family and friends find strength, comfort, and healing during this time of unimaginable loss. His spirit will live on — forever remembered, forever loved.
