JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — The Johnston County community is reeling after the tragic death of 29-year-old James Rudzki, a beloved utility worker whose life was cruelly cut short while serving his community on Wednesday, October 29.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Rudzki was struck after a flatbed truck failed to stop and drove into low-hanging utility wires stretched across the roadway. The impact caused fatal injuries, and despite the efforts of first responders, Rudzki was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the driver of the truck fled the scene and remains at large.
