The community of Delbarton, West Virginia, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Jacob Ray, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2025, along State Route 65 in the Lenore area of Mingo County.
According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. in front of Lenore Memorial Gardens, near milepost 18.7. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of a serious accident involving a motorcycle. Despite their efforts to save him, Jacob was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Route 65 was closed in both directions for several hours as investigators worked to piece together what led to the tragic crash. The roadway was reopened later that evening. Authorities have not yet released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
Jacob Ray, who lived in Delbarton and was originally from Delbarton, West Virginia, is being remembered as a kindhearted, genuine, and hardworking man who had a deep love for motorcycles and the open road. Friends describe him as someone who could make anyone smile and was always there when someone needed help.
“Jacob was the kind of person everyone loved to be around,” one friend shared. “He had a good heart, a great sense of humor, and a passion for life that was contagious. His loss has left a huge hole in this community.”
