KOUNTZE, Texas — With heavy hearts, the Hardin County community is mourning the tragic loss of 26-year-old Chace Soignet of Warren, a dedicated U.S. Postal Service worker who lost his life in a devastating crash Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and State Highway 327 in Kountze. Investigators say Soignet was driving a U.S. Postal Service truck west on Highway 327 when it reportedly disregarded a stop sign and entered the path of a northbound Ford F-350 towing a lowboy trailer. The two vehicles collided with tremendous force.
Emergency responders from DPS, Hardin County EMS, and the Kountze Fire Department arrived within minutes and immediately began life-saving measures. Soignet was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
News of his passing has deeply affected the Warren and Kountze communities. Friends, coworkers, and residents remember Chace Soignet as a hardworking and kind young man who took pride in serving his community through his work with the U.S. Postal Service. Those who knew him say he always wore a smile and brought warmth to everyone along his route.
“Chace was one of those people who made your day brighter just by showing up,” one family friend shared. “He cared about his job, his family, and his community. This is a heartbreaking loss.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the crash and urges all motorists to use extra caution at intersections, obey traffic signs, and remain alert while driving.
As loved ones and colleagues grieve this tragic loss, the community comes together to honor the memory of Chace Soignet — a man remembered for his kindness, dedication, and genuine heart.
