MARANA, Ariz. — The town of Marana is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 53-year-old Edwin Alexander, who tragically lost his life in a collision while riding his bicycle on Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025.
According to the Marana Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near W. Twin Peaks Road and W. Camino De Manana, involving a 2024 Kenworth cement truck. When first responders arrived, they found Edwin unresponsive on the roadway. Despite all lifesaving efforts, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say both Edwin and the truck were heading northbound when the light turned green. As they began to move, the two collided just north of the intersection. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
In the wake of this devastating loss, family, friends, and neighbors are struggling to comprehend the tragedy. Edwin was known for his warm smile, kind heart, and passion for cycling — a man who found peace and joy on the open road. Those who knew him describe him as thoughtful, humble, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
“He was one of the kindest people you could ever meet,” said a friend. “You couldn’t help but feel better after talking to him. His spirit lifted everyone around him.”
The community has begun placing flowers, candles, and notes at the site of the crash, turning it into a small but powerful memorial. Many have taken to social media to share memories and express their sorrow, remembering Edwin not just as a cyclist, but as a loving father, friend, and neighbor who made every life he touched a little brighter.
As the investigation continues, the Marana Police Department has not issued any citations or arrests. Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain vigilant and share the road safely with cyclists.
For now, Marana grieves together — mourning a life cut short too soon, and honoring a man whose memory will live on through every heart he touched.
Funeral and memorial service details for Edwin Alexander will be announced by his family at a later date.
