NORTH PRESTON, N.S. — The community of North Preston is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 28-year-old Jayden Tynes, who was tragically killed in a shooting on Saturday evening.

According to the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Cain Street and Clarence Street around 4:58 p.m. on November 2. When police and paramedics arrived, they found Jayden suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital by Emergency Health Services (EHS), but despite all lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken the lead in the investigation, with assistance from the Integrated General Investigative Section, RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

News of Jayden’s passing has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken. Those who knew him describe Jayden as a kind, respectful, and loyal young man whose smile could light up any room. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his absence has left an unfillable void in their lives.

As the community grapples with this senseless act of violence, many are coming together to honor Jayden’s memory  sharing stories, photos, and messages of love in remembrance of his life.
