RICHMOND, Va. — The community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 41-year-old Stephen Lomax of Henrico, who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on the Powhite Parkway.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:46 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Douglasdale Road exit. When officers arrived, they discovered that a vehicle had collided with the guiderail on the right side of the roadway. Stephen Lomax, the driver, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult female passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death. The RPD Crash Team closed the northbound lanes for several hours as they processed the scene and gathered evidence to better understand what led to the crash.

At this time, authorities have not identified the cause of the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Those who knew Stephen remember him as a dedicated, kind, and caring man who always put his family and loved ones first.
