SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Friday morning on East Washington Street as 22-year-old Jayvon Bankhead, a resident of Springfield.

According to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, emergency services responded to the 400 block of East Washington Street on November 1 after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Bankhead suffering from a serious gunshot injury. He was transported by EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased at 3:52 a.m.
