It is with deep sorrow that the Thibodaux community mourns the loss of 81-year-old Lois Blanchard, who tragically passed away following a pedestrian-involved crash on Louisiana Highway 20 near Colonial Drive on November 1, 2025.
According to the Louisiana State Police Troop C, a 1994 Buick Park Avenue was traveling south on LA Highway 20 in the left lane when Lois was standing in the same lane. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck her. The driver of the Buick was not injured, is not suspected of impairment, and voluntarily provided a breath sample that showed no alcohol detected. A toxicology sample from Lois was collected and submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash to understand what led to this tragic incident.
Lois Blanchard was a beloved member of the Thibodaux community, known for her gentle spirit, kindness, and generosity.
