PUEBLO, Colo. (November 1, 2025) — Heartbreak and grief ripple through the Pueblo community following the tragic shooting death of Bryce Woolery, a young man whose life was cut short far too soon.
According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers responded just before 2:30 a.m. after the city’s ShotSpotter system detected 15 rounds fired near Acero Avenue and Anasazi Street, close to Mountain View Cemetery and Northern Avenue. When police arrived, they found Bryce suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later arrested 25-year-old Darian Cocilo, who now faces charges of first-degree murder and battery in connection with the shooting. Cocilo is being held in the Pueblo County Jail on a $750,000 cash bond as detectives continue to search for answers.
The news of Bryce’s death has devastated family, friends, and neighbors. Those who knew him describe him as a loving, genuine, and good-hearted young man — someone who brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. Loved ones say Bryce had his share of struggles but was trying to do right and help others. His tragic death has left many mourning the loss of a life full of promise.
“He didn’t deserve this,” one friend said. “Bryce was trying to stop a fight, not start one. He had such a big heart.”
As Pueblo Police continue their investigation, the community unites in grief — demanding justice for Bryce and holding on to the memories of his kindness, energy, and infectious smile.
Rest in Peace, Bryce Woolery — gone too soon, forever remembered, and always loved.
