ENTERPRISE, Ore. — The Enterprise community is grieving the loss of 87-year-old Daniel Clyde Grover, who tragically died Wednesday, October 29, following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident east of Joseph.

According to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 3:00 p.m. in the Divide Ridge Access Area, approximately nine miles from Joseph. Investigators report that Grover had been riding alone on the ATV when he lost control while descending a steep hill. His vehicle struck two trees, and the impact ejected him through the windshield, resulting in fatal injuries. Grover was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends, family, and neighbors described Grover as a respected and beloved member of Enterprise, whose passing has left a profound void in the community.

This incident marks the second deadly ATV crash in southern Wallowa County in October, following the death of 83-year-old Glen Engelking south of Imnaha earlier in the month. Authorities continue to urge ATV operators to exercise extreme caution, particularly in the area’s rugged and steep terrain.

The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Grover’s crash.
