FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. — Heartbreak and grief have swept across the Fresno community following the devastating loss of two beloved sisters, 14-year-old Rayla Piedra and 21-year-old Angelina Nino, who were tragically killed in a violent crash on Tuesday night, October 28, 2025.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Angelina was driving eastbound on Belmont Avenue when she reportedly failed to stop at the Brawley Avenue stop sign. Investigators say she made an abrupt turn, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and collide with a power pole, multiple trees, fencing, and a parked vehicle before coming to rest in a nearby trucking yard.
First responders rushed to the scene, but Angelina Nino was pronounced dead on impact. Her younger sister, Rayla Piedra, was transported to a nearby hospital, where—despite all efforts to save her—she later passed away from her injuries. A 27-year-old man, also in the vehicle, remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
The loss of the two sisters has left their family and friends shattered, struggling to comprehend how such vibrant, loving lives could be gone so suddenly. Rayla, a student at Justin Garza High School, was known for her bright smile, kind heart, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Angelina was a devoted older sister—protective, caring, and full of love for her family.
Loved ones describe the pair as inseparable, sharing a deep bond that could be felt by everyone who knew them. Their passing has left an ache that words can hardly express.
As the Fresno community mourns, classmates, friends, and neighbors have come together to support the grieving family and to honor the memories of Rayla Piedra and Angelina Nino—two young souls whose light will never fade.
Though their lives ended far too soon, their love and spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
