Va. – The city of Virginia Beach is mourning the tragic loss of 26-year-old Malcolm W. Moore, whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence early Wednesday morning in Norfolk.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, officers were called to the 1400 block of East Tanners Creek Drive, near Rosemont Middle School, around 1:00 a.m. after reports of gunfire were received. When officers arrived, they found Malcolm suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite every effort to save him, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Malcolm’s sudden passing has shattered the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. Described by those closest to him as loving, funny, and full of life, Malcolm had a remarkable ability to lift others up. His laughter was contagious, his kindness genuine, and his presence unforgettable. Whether he was spending time with family, joking with friends, or lending a hand to someone in need, Malcolm always led with love.

He had dreams and ambitions that reflected his strong spirit and determination — dreams that now remain heartbreakingly unfinished. Those who loved him say he was more than a friend; he was family to everyone he met. His death leaves behind a void that words cannot fill, and a community struggling to understand why such a promising life was taken too soon.

The Norfolk Police Department continues to investigate the shooting, urging anyone with information to come forward.

As Virginia Beach grieves, loved ones hold tight to the beautiful memories of Malcolm — his laughter, his warmth, and the way he made every person feel valued.

May Malcolm W. Moore rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the love and prayers surrounding them during this unimaginable time.
