LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio – The town of Nelsonville is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Jeremy Johnson, 48, who tragically lost his life in a fatal crash on State Route 93 in Lawrence County on Monday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 10:53 a.m. near mile post 22 in Washington Township. Investigators determined that Jeremy was driving a 2016 Peterbilt southwest on S.R. 93 when the truck and its trailer overturned after navigating a curve, striking a guardrail on the east side of the road. The impact caused the vehicle to slide into the opposite lane, where it collided with a 2008 Ford Escape driven by 43-year-old Brett Hancock of Ironton. Hancock was not injured.
Emergency personnel responded quickly, but sadly, Jeremy Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. His passing has left the Nelsonville community heartbroken and in mourning for a man remembered for his kindness, hard work, and gentle spirit.
Friends and loved ones describe Jeremy as a devoted family man and a loyal friend — someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. He took pride in his work and found joy in the simple things in life: spending time with family, helping neighbors, and being part of his close-knit community.
Now, Nelsonville grieves deeply for one of its own. Jeremy’s sudden loss serves as a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to cherish every moment with those we love.
As the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the crash, Jeremy’s family and friends are surrounded by an outpouring of love and support.
May Jeremy Johnson rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the lasting memories of a man who touched so many lives with warmth, compassion, and strength.
