According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fatal accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on RM 1061. Investigators say Hilda was driving southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle suddenly skidded across the northbound lane. The car then veered off the roadway, struck a brick fence, and overturned.
