FOLSOM, Louisiana — The community of Folsom is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 39-year-old Rachel Bitter, who tragically lost her life in a devastating two-vehicle crash on LA Highway 25 near Sweet Olive Lane Monday evening.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. when a 2015 Ford E250 van traveling southbound suddenly crossed into the northbound lane, striking Rachel’s 2013 Cadillac ATS head-on. Despite the swift response of emergency crews, Rachel sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver of the van suffered only minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
For those who knew Rachel, her passing feels impossible to comprehend. She was a woman whose heart radiated warmth, whose laughter filled quiet rooms, and whose kindness touched everyone she met. Whether she was helping a friend in need, spending time with loved ones, or simply sharing a smile with a stranger, Rachel had a way of making others feel seen and valued.
Her family describes her as the center of their world—a devoted daughter, mother, and friend who always put others before herself. To them, she was more than family; she was home. Her love was steady, her spirit gentle, and her compassion endless.
The pain of losing Rachel is immeasurable. A life so full of light, cut short in an instant, leaves behind a silence that words cannot fill. Yet in the midst of grief, her loved ones find comfort in knowing her memory will live on through the love she gave so freely.
Rachel Bitter will forever be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her beautiful heart. May she rest in eternal peace.
